Overview

Yamunotri Dham, the source of the River Yamuna, is one of the four shrines of the Chota Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand. Nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas, it is located at an altitude of 3,293 meters (10,804 ft) in the Uttarkashi district.

The temple is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, the daughter of Surya (the Sun God), and sister of Yama (the God of Death).
