Overview
The Char Dham Yatra is a sacred pilgrimage to four holy shrines in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand:
-
Yamunotri – the source of the River Yamuna
-
Gangotri – the source of the River Ganga
-
Kedarnath – a Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva
-
Badrinath – dedicated to Lord Vishnu
Pilgrims believe that completing this yatra purifies the soul and leads to moksha (liberation).
